Below are the quotes that were used in the video.
The focus of this week's Come, Follow Me readings are messages of hope from Jeremiah. Jeremiah taught that God would restore His children who have fallen, struggled, or become lost. Moroni quoted some of Jeremiah's prophecies to Joseph Smith, promising they would "soon come to pass."
President Dieter F. Uchtdorf: “Not far from where my family lived was the city of Dresden. Those who lived there witnessed perhaps a thousand times what I had seen. Massive firestorms, caused by thousands of tons of explosives, swept through Dresden, destroying more than 90 percent of the city and leaving little but rubble and ash in their wake.
“During my visit I saw the beautiful Lutheran church Frauenkirche, the Church of Our Lady. Originally built in the 1700s, it had been one of Dresden’s shining jewels, but the war reduced it to a pile of rubble.
“Stones from the destroyed church had been stored and cataloged and, when possible, were used in the reconstruction. Today you can see these fire-blackened stones pockmarking the outer walls.
“These “scars” are not only a reminder of the war history of this building but also a monument to hope—a magnificent symbol of man’s ability to create new life from ashes.
“Surely, I thought, if man can take the ruins, rubble, and remains of a broken city and rebuild an awe-inspiring structure that rises toward the heavens, how much more capable is our Almighty Father to restore His children who have fallen, struggled, or become lost?” (April 2016 GC, He will place you on his shoulders and carry you home)

These verses (Jeremiah 30:18 through the middle of verse 21) were quoted by Oliver Cowdery as being among those which the angel Moroni told Joseph Smith were about to be fulfilled (see Messenger and Advocate, Apr. 1835, pp. 110-111).
Jeremiah 31:6, 8-9. Oliver Cowdery says that these three verses were proclaimed by the angel Moroni to Joseph Smith as to be fulfilled soon, although he quoted them separately (with verse 6 preceding verses 8 and 9) and quoted other verses between all three (see Messenger and Advocate, Apr. 1835, p. 111).
Elder LeGrand Richards: “Where else in all the world and in all the annals of history can you find a fulfillment of this prophecy of Jeremiah? He may have seen more when his prophecy was uttered than has already been fulfilled, but one could scarcely hope to find a more literal fulfillment than in the gathering of the Latter-day Saints to the valleys of the mountains in these latter days.” (A Marvelous Work and a Wonder, pg. 225-228)
Jeremiah 31:27-28. According to Oliver Cowdery, these verses were also quoted by the angel Moroni (excluding "and the house of Judah") to the Prophet Joseph Smith as soon to be fulfilled. He prefaced this comment (either Moroni or Oliver Cowdery): And his people shall dwell safely, they shall possess the land forever, even the land which was promised to their fathers for an everlasting inheritance; for behold, says the Lord by the mouth of the prophet (see Messenger and Advocate, Apr. 1835, p. 110).
Jeremiah 31:31-33. According to 0liver Cowdery, verses 31 through 33 were paraphrased and quoted by the angel Moroni to Joseph Smith as about to be fulfilled. In Oliver's account this preceded the quotation: "For this happy situation and blessed state of restored Israel, did the prophets look, and obtained a promise, that, though the house of Israel and Judah, should violate the covenant, the Lord, in the last days would make with them a new one..." (see Messenger and Advocate, Apr. 1835, p. 110).
Jeremiah 50:4-5. According to 0liver Cowdery, verses 4-5 were quoted by the angel Moroni to Joseph Smith. (see Messenger and Advocate, Apr. 1835, p. 110).
Joseph Smith: “When a man goes about prophesying, and commands men to obey his teachings, he must either be a true or false prophet. False prophets always arise to oppose the true prophets and they will prophesy so very near the truth that they will deceive almost the very chosen ones” ( Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 365).

President Gordon B. Hinckley: “How thankful we ought to be, my brethren and sisters, how thankful we are, for a prophet to counsel us in words of divine wisdom as we walk our paths in these complex and difficult times. The solid assurance we carry in our hearts, the conviction that God will make his will known to his children through his recognized servant is the real basis of our faith and activity. We either have a prophet or we have nothing; and having a prophet, we have everything” (in Conference Report, Oct. 1973, 161; or Ensign, Jan. 1974, 122).
“The slaughter of the innocent children of Bethlehem fulfilled Jeremiah’s prophecy that Rachel should weep for her children and not be comforted.” (Bruce R. McConkie, Promised Messiah, pg. 478)

Teaching Thoughts:
- Messages of hope from Jeremiah. They are for our day!
- How do I know that someone is a prophet? When was the last time that you felt that you were in the presence of a prophet?
- God will restore His children who have fallen, struggled, or become lost.
- Object lessons – teaching the visual learner.
