President Russell M. Nelson encouraged women to prayerfully study section 107 and search for truths about priesthood power. This section teaches that all covenant-keeping women and men have access to all of the spiritual blessings of the church. Included in this week’s study is one of my all-time favorite scriptures. I love the Lord’s encouragement to strengthen those around you through your conversations, prayers, exhortations, and in all that you do.
Steven Harper: “No revelation more emphatically sets forth the law of consecration than Doctrine and Covenants 104:13-18. The Lord declares the first principle of consecration—"the earth is the Lord's" (Exodus 9:29)—repeatedly and with clarity: "I, the Lord, stretched out the heavens, and built the earth, my very handiwork; and all things therein are mine" (D&C 104:14). Having made the earth, the Lord can decree the rules of stewardship and accountability over it. Indeed, he endowed mankind with agency to act on the ample, abundant earth as stewards. He also requires the rich to share with the poor (v. 16): "Therefore," the passage concludes, "if any man shall take of the abundance which I have made, and impart not his portion, according to the law of my gospel, unto the poor and the needy, he shall, with the wicked, lift up his eyes in hell, being in torment" (v. 18; emphasis added). This passage is wonderfully potent, drawing on the New Testament story in Luke 16 of Lazarus and the rich man.” (https://www.jstor.org/stable/43044667)
In times of Financial difficulties:
Sidney Rigdon: “the humble capacity of a journeyman tanner”
“had lost many who once professed the greatest friendship”
“when he was seen by them in the garb suited to the employment of a tanner, there was no longer that freedom, courtesy and friendship manifested - that many of his former friends became estranged and looked upon him with coolness and indifference” ( Times & Seasons, May 15, 1843)
President Gordon B. Hinckley: “The law of sacrifice and the law of consecration were not done away with and are still in effect.” (Gordon B. Hinckley, Teachings of Gordon B. Hinckley (Salt Lake City: Deseret Book, 1997), 639.)
President Gordon B. Hinckley: "In the financial operations of the Church, we have observed two basic and fixed principles: One, the Church will live within its means. It will not spend more than it receives. Two, a fixed percentage of the income will be set aside to build reserves against what might be called a possible ‘rainy day.
"For years the Church has taught its membership the principle of setting aside a reserve of food, as well as money, to take care of emergency needs that might arise. We are only trying to follow the same principle for the Church as a whole.” (Conference Report, Apr. 1991, 74; or Ensign, May 1991, 53–54).
"During the month of November 1834, Joseph Smith was occupied in making preparations for the School of the Elders. "No month," he said, "ever found me more busily engaged than November; but as my life consisted of activity and unyielding exertions, I made this my rule: When the Lord commands, do it." (Lyndon W. Cook, The Revelations of the Prophet Joseph Smith: A Historical and Biographical Commentary of the Doctrine and Covenants, p.214)
President Russell M. Nelson: “I entreat you to study prayerfully all the truths you can find about priesthood power. You might begin with Doctrine and Covenants sections 84 and 107. Those sections will lead you to other passages. The scriptures and teachings by modern prophets, seers, and revelators are filled with these truths.
“As your understanding increases and as you exercise faith in the Lord and His priesthood power, your ability to draw upon this spiritual treasure that the Lord has made available will increase. As you do so, you will find yourselves better able to help create eternal families that are united, sealed in the temple of the Lord, and full of love for our Heavenly Father and for Jesus Christ.” https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/2019/10/36nelson?lang=eng

President Russell M. Nelson: “How I yearn for you to understand that the restoration of the priesthood is just as relevant to you as a woman as it is to any man. Because the Melchizedek Priesthood has been restored, both covenant-keeping women and men have access to “all the spiritual blessings of the church” or, we might say, to all the spiritual treasures the Lord has for His children.” (https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/2019/10/36nelson?lang=eng)
President Russell M. Nelson: “Every woman and every man who makes covenants with God and keeps those covenants, and who participates worthily in priesthood ordinances, has direct access to the power of God. Those who are endowed in the house of the Lord receive a gift of God’s priesthood power by virtue of their covenant, along with a gift of knowledge to know how to draw upon that power.” https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/2019/10/36nelson?lang=eng
“The heavens are just as open to women who are endowed with God’s power flowing from their priesthood covenants as they are to men who bear the priesthood. I pray that truth will register upon each of your hearts because I believe it will change your life. Sisters, you have the right to draw liberally upon the Savior’s power to help your family and others you love.” https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/2019/10/36nelson?lang=eng
President Gordon B. Hinckley: "When a man is ordained to the apostleship and set apart as a member of the Council of the Twelve, he is given the keys of the priesthood of God. Each of the fifteen living men so ordained holds these keys. However, only the President of the Church has the right to exercise them in their fullness. He may delegate the exercise of various of them to one or more of his Brethren. Each has the keys but is authorized to use them only to the degree granted him by the prophet of the Lord." (Conference Report, Oct., 1992 p. 77.)
President Boyd K. Packer: “The difference between especial and special is in the spelling, and it really does not mean anything more than that. To be a special witness of the name of Christ means that you have that witness and that authority that is unfailing, and it will be with you everywhere in the world.” (https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/prophets-and-apostles/unto-all-the-world/the-twelve-and-the-seventy-part-three-witnesses-to-the-world?)
President Dallin H. Oaks: “We are not accustomed to speaking of women having the authority of the priesthood in their Church callings, but what other authority can it be? When a woman—young or old—is set apart to preach the gospel as a full-time missionary, she is given priesthood authority to perform a priesthood function. The same is true when a woman is set apart to function as an officer or teacher in a Church organization under the direction of one who holds the keys of the priesthood.” (https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/2014/04/the-keys-and-authority-of-the-priesthood?lang=eng)

In times of Financial difficulties:
- Organize yourselves (104:11).
- Everyone has their ‘stewardship’ (104:11).
- Accountable to God for your stewardship (104:12-13).
- “…it is my purpose to provide for my saints, for all things are mine” (104:15).
- “It must needs be done in mine own way” (104:16).
- Be humble (104:23). [Note: Given to Sidney Rigdon. Sidney had been given “the lot of the tannery for his stewardship” (104:20).]
- “Pay all your debts” (104:78).
- “And inasmuch as you are diligent and humble, and exercise the prayer of faith, behold, I will soften the hearts of those to whom you are in debt, until I shall send means unto you for your deliverance” (104:80).

Teaching Thoughts:
- Focus on how priesthood keys bless both women and men.
- Ask class members to come to class having prayerfully studied section 107 (and 84) and be prepared to share the truths that they found about priesthood power.
- Who can you strengthen today through a conversation, a prayer, an exhortation, or through your actions?
