Below are the quotes that were used in the video.
Orson Hyde once gave a talk and the prophet Joseph told him that had “some corrections" to offer. I love Orson’s humble response: "They shall be thankfully received.” These corrections are found in Section 130 and help us to better understand God’s time, encourages us to learn that which will be an advantage to us in the world to come as well as a principle that helps us to understand the ‘why’ of many things. Sections 131 and 132 help us to better understand why eternal marriage is essential to Heavenly Father’s plan.
Joseph Smith: "A man came to me in Kirtland, and told me he had seen an angel, and described his dress.
"I told him he had seen no angel, and that there was no such dress in heaven. He grew mad, and went into the street and commanded fire to come down out of heaven to consume me. I laughed at him and said, You are one of Baal’s prophets; your God does not hear you; jump up and cut yourself: and he commanded fire from heaven to consume my house...” (History of the Church, 5:267–68.)

Types of Angelic Beings that can Appear to Mortals
SUSPECT IN FIRESIDE BOMB THREAT SAYS HE WAS FULFILLING PROPHECIES (By Deseret News Feb 9, 1993)
“A man who was arrested in the bomb threat at Brigham Young University during an LDS fireside Sunday said he was only fulfilling prophecies he had received from visions and visitations…
“Judy said his motive Sunday night was to have Howard W. Hunter, president of the Council of the Twelve of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, read a three-page letter that released the Twelve Apostles and the First Presidency of the church and confirmed Judy as president of the church.
"I have seen the resurrected Joseph Smith, Jesus Christ and ancient apostles. They have told me this is what I have to do," Judy said. (https://www.deseret.com/1993/2/9/19031221/suspect-in-fireside-bomb-threat-says-he-was-fulfilling-prophecies)
Prophet Joseph Smith: “An angel of God never has wings. Some will say that they have seen a spirit; that he offered them his hand, but they did not touch it. This is a lie. First, it is contrary to the plan of God: a spirit cannot come but in glory; an angel has flesh and bones; we see not their glory…
“The devil may appear as an angel of light. Ask God to reveal it; if it be of the devil, he will flee from you; if of God, He will manifest Himself, or make it manifest. We may come to Jesus and ask Him; He will know all about it.” (History of the Church, 3:392.)
Joseph Smith: “A sister in the state of new York had a vision, who said it was told her that if she would go to a certain place in the woods, and angel would appear. She went … and saw a glorious personage descending, arrayed in white, with sandy colored hair….
“…How may it be asked, was this known to be a bad angel?
“By the color of his hair.” (TPJS p. 214)
Orson Hyde spoke and made some incorrect statements. At dinner later that evening, the Prophet Joseph told Brother Hyde "I am going to offer some corrections to you." Wisely he replied, "They shall be thankfully received.“ (Joseph Smith, Journal, kept by Willard Richards, April 2, 1843, Church History Library, Salt Lake City)
Some of the teachings were clarified and prepared for publication in the Church's newspaper in the 1850s and then added to the 1876 edition of the Doctrine and Covenants, becoming section 130.
President Henry B. Eyring: “Because of the restoration of the knowledge of eternal families, we are more hopeful and more kindly in all our family relations. The greatest joys in this life center in families, as they will in the worlds to come. I am so grateful for the assurance I have that if we are faithful, the same sociality which we enjoy here in this life will be forever with us in the world to come, in eternal glory.” (https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/2008/04/the-true-and-living-church?lang=eng)
Joseph Smith: “After a person has faith in Christ, repents of his sins, and is baptized for the remission of his sins and receives the Holy Ghost, (by the laying on of hands), which is the first Comforter, then let him continue to humble himself before God, hungering and thirsting after righteousness, and living by every word of God, and the Lord will soon say unto him, Son, thou shalt be exalted. When the Lord has thoroughly proved him, and finds that the man is determined to serve Him at all hazards, then the man will find his calling and his election made sure, then it will be his privilege to receive the other Comforter, which the Lord hath promised the Saints, as is recorded in the testimony of St. John, (John 14:12-27). . .
“Now what is this other Comforter? It is no more nor less than the Lord Jesus Christ Himself; … when any man obtains this last Comforter, he will have the personage of Jesus Christ to attend him, or appear unto him from time to time, and even He will manifest the Father unto him, and they will take up their abode with him, and the visions of the heavens will be opened unto him, and the Lord will teach him face to face, and he may have a perfect knowledge of the mysteries of the Kingdom of God…” (History of the Church 3:380-81).
Brigham Young: "This earth, when it becomes purified and sanctified, or celestialized, will become like a sea of glass; and a person, by looking into it, can know things past, present, and to come; though none but celestialized beings can enjoy this privilege. They will look into the earth, and the things they desire to know will be exhibited to them, the same as the face is seen by looking into a mirror." (Journal of Discourses, 9:87.)
Imagine for a moment you could download this new app for your cell phone.
President Gordon B. Hinckley: "I invite you, every one of you, to make that your motto. Mediocrity will never do. You are capable of something better. Give it your very best. You will never again have such an opportunity. Pray about it. Work at it. Make it happen. Drink in the great knowledge here to be obtained from this dedicated faculty. Qualify yourselves for the work of the world that lies ahead. It will largely compensate you in terms of what it thinks you are worth. Walk the high road of charity, respect, and love for others and particularly those who are less fortunate. Be happy. Look for the sunlight in life. Reach for the stars." ("Remarks at the Inauguration of President Cecil O. Samuelson," BYU, Sep. 9, 2003).
President Dallin H. Oaks: “God’s choicest blessings are clearly contingent upon obedience to God’s laws and commandments. The key teaching is from modern revelation:
"There is a law, irrevocably decreed in heaven before the foundations of this world, upon which all blessings are predicated--
"And when we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated" (D&C 130:20-21).
“This great principle helps us understand the why of many things, like justice and mercy balanced by the Atonement.
“It also explains why God will not forestall the exercise of agency by His children. Agency—our power to choose—is fundamental to the gospel plan that brings us to earth.
“God does not intervene to forestall the consequences of some persons’ choices in order to protect the well-being of other persons—even when they kill, injure, or oppress one another—for this would destroy His plan for our eternal progress. [Compare Alma 42:8]
“He will bless us to endure the consequences of others’ choices, but He will not prevent those choices. [Compare Mosiah 24:14–15]
“If a person understands the teachings of Jesus, he or she cannot reasonably conclude that our loving Heavenly Father or His divine Son believes that Their love supersedes Their commandments.” (“Love and Law,” Ensign, Nov. 2009, 26–29.)
Thought Questions on Marriage:
Elder David A. Bednar: “Two compelling doctrinal reasons help us to understand why eternal marriage is essential to the Father’s plan.
“Reason 1: The natures of male and female spirits complete and perfect each other, and therefore men and women are intended to progress together toward exaltation.
“Reason 2: By divine design, both a man and a woman are needed to bring children into mortality and to provide the best setting for the rearing and nurturing of children.
“…some guiding principles for those who are preparing to marry, for those who are married, and for our service in the Church.
“Principle 1: The importance of eternal marriage can be understood only within the context of the Father’s plan of happiness.
“Principle 2: Satan desires that all men and women might be miserable like unto himself.” (https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/ensign/2006/06/marriage-is-essential-to-his-eternal-plan?lang=eng)
Elder Jeffery R. Holland: “Human intimacy is reserved for a married couple because it is the ultimate symbol of total union, a totality and a union ordained and defined by God. From the Garden of Eden onward, marriage was intended to mean the complete merger of a man and a woman—their hearts, hopes, lives, love, family, future, everything.
"Adam said of Eve that she was bone of his bones and flesh of his flesh, and that they were to be ‘one flesh’ in their life together [see Genesis 2:23–24].
"This is a union of such completeness that we use the word seal to convey its eternal promise.
"The Prophet Joseph Smith once said we perhaps could render such a sacred bond as being ‘welded’ [see D&C 128:18] one to another.
“But such a total union, such an unyielding commitment between a man and a woman, can only come with the proximity and permanence…
"…afforded in a marriage covenant, with solemn promises and the pledge of all they possess—their very hearts and minds, all their days and all their dreams” (Conference Report, Oct. 1998, 100)
President Gordon B Hinckley: “When you are married, be fiercely loyal one to another. Selfishness is the great destroyer of happy family life. If you will make your first concern the comfort, the well-being, and the happiness of your companion, sublimating any personal concern to that loftier goal, you will be happy, and your marriage will go on throughout eternity.” (Brigham Young University commencement exercises, Provo, Utah, 27 April 1995.)
New and Everlasting Covenant
President Joseph Fielding Smith: “I wish to say a word about the Holy Spirit of Promise, which is the sealing and ratifying power of the Holy Ghost. To have a covenant or ordinance sealed by the holy Spirit of Promise is a compact through which the inherent blessings will be obtained, provided those seeking the blessing are true and faithful For example, when the covenant of marriage for time and eternity, the culminating gospel ordinance, is sealed by the Holy Spirit of Promise, “it can literally open the windows of heaven for great blessings to flow to a married couple who seek for those blessings. Such marriages become rich, whole, and sacred. Though each party to the marriage can maintain his or her separate identity, yet together in their covenant they can be like two vines wound inseparably around each other. Each think of his or her companion before thinking of self.” (Doctrines of Salvation 2:98-99)
Sister Marjorie Hinckley: I was just sure the first ten years would be bliss. But during our first year together I discovered there were a lot of adjustments. Of course, they weren’t the kind of thing you ran home to mother about. But I cried into my pillow now and again. The problems were almost always related to learning to live on someone else schedule and to do things someone else’s way. We loved each other, there was no doubt about that. But we also had to get used to each other. I think every couple has to get used to each other. (Sheri L. Dew, Go Forward with Faith: The Biography of Gordon B. Hinckley [1996], 118)

Types of Angelic Beings that can Appear to Mortals
- Pre-Mortal Spirits: In Moses 5:6-8, the angel who appeared to Adam, and asked him why he was offering sacrifices, apparently was one of these spirits from pre-mortal life. This is because no angels minister to this earth except those who belong to it (see Section 130:5).
- Spirits Of Just (Righteous) Men Made Perfect: Part of the "innumerable company of angels“ (Heb 12:22) are the "spirits of just men made perfect." These are the spirits of men who have worked out their salvation, but are awaiting the day of the resurrection (see Section 129:3, 138:12).
- Translated Beings: Some righteous persons in the early days of the earth's history were translated. Being translated means to not have died yet, but to have been through a special change that allows one to live either on earth or in heaven. Instead of dying as mortals usually do, translated beings will be changed from mortality to immortality "in the twinkling of an eye" (3 Nephi 28:7-8).
- Resurrected Personages: Since the resurrection of Jesus Christ, resurrected angels have ministered to those on earth. These angels have bodies of flesh and bones (see Section 129:1-2).
- Righteous Mortal Women and Men: Even certain righteous mortals are called angels in the scriptures. The King James version of the Bible gives an account of "two angels" rescuing Lot from Sodom. In the account these angels are called "men" and the wicked inhabitants of Sodom considered them that way. The Joseph Smith Translation footnote tells us that actually there were "three angels," and that these "angels of God" in reality "were holy men."
- Devil's Angels Who Do Not Serve God: Just as there are righteous spirits committed to the accomplishment of God’s work, so there are evil spirits committed to the destruction of His work (see Rev 12:9).

Thought Questions on Marriage:
- What is the doctrine of marriage?
- Why is marriage between a man and a woman necessary for exaltation?
- How could a correct understanding of the doctrine of marriage affect what you look for in a spouse?

New and Everlasting Covenant
- Marriage - “a new and an everlasting covenant” (section 132:4).
- Baptism - “a new and an everlasting covenant, even that which was from the beginning” (Section 22:1).
- “The” new and everlasting covenant is the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ, which embraces all ordinances and covenants necessary for the salvation and exaltation of mankind. (see section 66:2)
President Joseph Fielding Smith: “I wish to say a word about the Holy Spirit of Promise, which is the sealing and ratifying power of the Holy Ghost. Teaching Thoughts:
- Like Orson Hyde, how can we humbly receive correction?
- How are we “drinking in” knowledge and intelligence (130:18)?
- Why is marriage between a man and a woman necessary for exaltation?
- How could understanding the doctrine of celestial marriage affect how we act and respond to challenges in marriage?
- What are we doing to be the ‘right person’ for our spouse (or future spouse)?
